Weekend

What do you think when you hear the word “saint?” Is it possible for a sinner to become a saint? In the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus spoke to a Jewish audience, clarifying what it means to be accepted by God. The “Beatitudes” in Matthew 5:1-11 give us clues as to how any-one can inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

SERVICE TIMES ARE CHANGING NEXT WEEKEND
Starting next weekend, May 24/25, Riv's service times will change to 7:00ish pm on Saturday and 9:30ish and 11:30ish am on Sunday. There will be Kids' Church at all three services.

Kids Kamp Registration Has Begun!
Register your children for Kids Kamp! We have more than ten houses around the Lansing area to choose from (see the map down the hall for locations.) There are morning and evening Kamps going on. Evening Kids Kamp is Sunday, June 15 - Thursday, June 19, and morning Kamp is Monday, June 16 - Friday, June 20.

Compassion Shared Pregnancy Drive
The Compassion Team is collecting new and used items for Shared Pregnancy throughout the month of May, including swings, car seats, cribs, clothing (especially for newborns), diapers, wipes and anything else babies need. If you have a crib to donate, even if it needs repair, contact Arthur at 517-719-7637 to make arrangements for collection. Please drop off other items in the Compassion Bin by RivWarehouse in the lobby.

La Fiesta Grande - Support the Mexico Missional Trips
At Valhalla Park (300 Keller Road in Holt) on Sunday, May 18 from 11:30 am - 3:30 pm we'll be supporting Riv's missional teams going to Tijuana and Monterrey, Mexico this summer. We will be roasting two pigs and have plenty of other food for La Fiesta, with a suggested donation of $5 per person or $20 per family. There will also be games for all ages, so join us as we come together as a faith community to celebrate and support the RivMexico teams.

Garage Sale for Mexico
Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at 2704 Allium Street in Holt. Come see what treasures you can find! All proceeds will benefit the Mexico missional trips this summer. If you'd like to donate stuff for the sale, drop it off at this address on Saturday, May 17 or Saturday, May 24 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Tech Volunteer Open House
As we transition to our new larger auditorium, Riv needs a lot more volunteers to pull off the more technical side of the weekend services. This includes stage hands and operators for the sound board, lighting board, video cameras, and Power Point. If any of these interest you, come to the Open House on Sunday, June 1 after the 11:30 service. We'll provide lunch and give an overview of each area. Then you'll have a chance to sign-up and receive training for whichever is the best fit for you. All are welcome, even those who do not consider themselves “techies.” This is a great opportunity to get involved and start serving! Please RSVP to eric@eriv.net by Wednesday, May 28.

Epic Summer
Epic is on for the sumer! Our main gatherings are on Tuesday nights at 6:00 pm, starting May 13 and going through August 6. Most of the time we'll be in the Erickson Kiva Auditorium on MSU's campus (though on
a few dates in July we will meet in an alternate location). On Thursday nights, we will be doing various social things that will be announced on Tuesdays and through our email group (Email ben@eriv.net to join our email group). You can also check out www.epicstate.net for more details.

Connecting post-college and twenty-something people with real community with the purpose of following Jesus.

Leadership Training 2008
Epic, Riv's college group, is taking students to Virginia Beach for ten weeks this summer to grow as sacrificial followers of Christ. We'll get full-time jobs, live together, and hear from awesome speakers from around the country. LT isn't just for people who want to be "leaders," but for anyone who wants to grow in love for God and people. Dates are May 17 to July 26. Email troy@eriv.net for more info.

Parents' Night Out for MX
This Friday, April 18, from 6:00 - 9:30 pm at Riverview. Pre-register at RivWarehouse in the lobby THIS weekend only, during all services. Donations are appreciated, as proceeds will support the Mexico missional trips this summer. Suggested donation: $10/child or $20/family.

Riv5KforMX
Runners and walkers are invited to participate in the first ever Riverview 5K. It doesn't matter if you've never done a 5K before. 5K = 3.1 Miles = you can do it! This is an opportunity for you to help raise money for the Rayitos de Luz orphanage in Monterrey, Mexico.
When: Saturday, April 19, at 10:00 am (registration starts at 8:30 am)

Cost: $10 requested donation

Car Wash and Bake Sale for MX
Saturday, April 19, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Kroger in Holt. Come get your car washed and grab a snack. Donations will support the Mexico missional trips this summer.

RivBuddies Needed
Would you like to be a Buddy to one of our special needs kids? RivBuddies provides one-on-one support to our kids with special needs during the weekend services. We are in need of more Buddies over the summer when many of our college students are out of town. We are holding a RivBuddies Training on Saturday, April 19, during the 6:00ish pm service. Kids Kamp Planning Meeting
Interested in helping out with Kids Kamp this summer? We’ll start planning the specifics during a meeting on Sunday, April 20 after the 11:30 am service. Fight Club Viewing of Traffic Control
Fight Club will be showing the documentary Traffic Control at their next meeting on Monday, April 21 at 6:30 pm in the MOD. Educate yourself and your family about the harmful effects of pornography as women and men from inside the industry describe how their lives were being destroyed.

Shared Pregnancy Gala
Thursday, April 24, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Grand Ledge Opera House. All are welcome for a gourmet coffee and dessert gala and silent auction to benefit Shared Pregnancy Womens’ Center in Lansing (a non-profit Christian ministry helping women facing unexpected pregnancies and families with babies). Please come out for the night ($10/adult, children free) or make a donation to the silent auction (all items welcome or to the center.

Sound Techs Needed
Riverview needs more sound techs. With a new larger auditorium and new bands forming we will need several people to help as stage hands and board operators. No experience is necessary, but general "techy" type skills can be helpful. If you aren't interested have a friend who would be, please let him or her know. Email eric@eriv.net.

New Members' Class
The last New Members' Class before Fall will be Sunday, April 13 from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm in the MOD. Lunch and childcare are provided. Please RSVP to matt@eriv.net.

Parents' Night Out for MX
This Friday, April 18, from 6:00 - 9:30 pm at Riverview. Pre-register at RivWarehouse in the lobby THIS weekend only, during all services. Donations are appreciated, as proceeds will support the Mexico missional trips this summer. Suggested donation: $10/child or $20/family.

Riv5KforMX
Runners and walkers are invited to participate in the first ever Riverview 5K. It doesn't matter if you've never done a 5K before. 5K = 3.1 Miles = you can do it! This is an opportunity for you to help raise money for the Rayitos de Luz orphanage in Monterrey, Mexico.
When: Saturday, April 19, at 10:00 am (registration starts at 8:30 am)

Cost: $10 requested donation

Car Wash and Bake Sale for MX
Saturday, April 19, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Kroger in Holt. Come get your car washed and grab a snack. Donations will support the Mexico missional trips this summer.

RivBuddies Needed
Would you like to be a Buddy to one of our special needs kids? RivBuddies provides one-on-one support to our kids with special needs during the weekend services. We are in need of more Buddies over the summer when many of our college students are out of town. We are holding a RivBuddies Training on Saturday, April 19, during the 6:00ish pm service. Kids Kamp Planning Meeting
Interested in helping out with Kids Kamp this summer? We’ll start planning the specifics during a meeting on Sunday, April 20 after the 11:30 am service. We’re still looking for about five more host houses still need lots of volunteers to pull this off. If you have questions, email tricia@eriv.net. Hope to see you at the meeting!

Love and Respect Marriage Conference

Doubting the Faith
“Help my unbelief,” a man said to Jesus in Mark 9, and Jesus then gave him more evidence. Both Christians and non-Christians have doubts about the faith. This class sets out to contest those doubts, affirm that faith is not blind, and show Christians how to respond to their own doubts and the doubts of others. A survey of worldviews and world religions will be followed by common objections to the faith and rational explanations of the faith. Fight Club Viewing of Traffic Control
Fight Club will be showing the documentary Traffic Control at their next meeting on Monday, April 21 at 6:30 pm in the MOD. Educate yourself and your family about the harmful effects of pornography as women and men from inside the industry describe how their lives were being destroyed.

Shared Pregnancy Gala
Thursday, April 24, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Grand Ledge Opera House. All are welcome for a gourmet coffee and dessert gala and silent auction to benefit Shared Pregnancy Womens’ Center in Lansing (a non-profit Christian ministry helping women facing unexpected pregnancies and families with babies). Please come out for the night ($10/adult, children free) or make a donation to the silent auction (all items welcome or to the center.

RivLink - Getting Connected in a Community Group
Want to get involved in a smaller group where you can meet people and digest spiritual truth through great relationships? Join us for our next RivLink on Sunday, April 27, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. We'll help you get involved with a meaningful group of people either in a starter group or a community group. New groups will be forming, so don't miss it. Riverview needs more sound techs. With a new larger auditorium and new bands forming we will need several people to help as stage hands and board operators. No experience is necessary, but general "techy" type skills can be helpful. If you aren't interested have a friend who would be, please let him or her know. Email eric@eriv.net.

Web Developer/Designer Needed
If you can program in PHP & AJAX and you know MySQL & HTML, your help is needed. We’d like to make some additions and changes to the Riverview website, but need some extra help. If you are interested in volunteering your time, and you have the right skills, please email eric@eriv.net.
